Factions Choose your side!

Here’s the way it works

When you register for ReaperCon you select the faction that appeals to you. There’s a pretty diverse selection in Dreadmere, from witches to warriors, from undead to nightmarish monsters and cultists. And it’s okay if you change your mind later and switch factions. Choosing a faction is just a way for you support the group you identify with.

Now that you’ve chosen a faction, the next thing you’ll need to do is earn points for it! How do you earn points? Simple – just have fun! Here are some of the ways that you can collect points for your Dreadmere faction while at ReaperCon:

  1. Taking a Class: 10 points per class
  2. Wear your ReaperCon t-shirt: 10 points per day
  3. Wear your Dreadmere Faction t-shirt: 10 points per day
  4. Play a scheduled game: 10 points per game
  5. Participate in a scheduled Painting Event: 10 points per event
  6. Enter the MSP Open Painting Contest: 20 points
  7. Wear your Halloween Costume: 30 points per day
  8. Play an official Dreadmere RPG with Reaper Wolf: 30 points per game

And for those of you who would love to be there but can’t make it, we’ve made it easy for you as well! On opening day of ReaperCon (October 20th) we’ll be posting some official images of our Dreadmere Iconics. You can earn points for your faction like this:

  1. Each Share or React on Facebook: 10 points
  2. Retweet or Favorite on Twitter: 10 points
  3. Like or Reblog on Tumblr: 10 points

And there are a few more secret ways for you to earn points too, but why spoil the fun here by telling you about it?

So what do we do with these points?

You’ll be given one ReaperCon Token for every 10 points you earn. For example, if you wear your ReaperCon t-shirt and enter the MSP Open you’ll get 40 points = 4 tokens. Simply take your tokens and stick them onto your faction’s scoreboard displayed at ReaperCon Registration. Each day we’ll tally up the points and make an announcement live at ReaperCon and as well as on Facebook and Twitter.

Okay, then what happens?

At the end of ReaperCon, we’ll calculate a grand total of all the points and announce the winning faction, where they’ll be crowned Lords of Dreadmere...at least until next ReaperCon!

We will be providing a running narrative to go along with the points totals in order to bring the location and the characters of Dreadmere to life.

In addition, we’ll be offering lots of background on Dreadmere and its surroundings on Reapermini.com and on Reapercon.com for those of you who really want to get into the setting.

Bonehenge Covenant

"Be careful where thou wilt tread, for the light is just as blinding as the darkness, and terror most foul awaits within both.”
- Andowyn Thrushmoor, Bonehenge Witch

The Bonehenge Covenant takes its name from a windswept tor topped with rings of giant fossilized bones of some forgotten primeval beasts. This mysterious coven is devoted to maintaining balance in the world through any means necessary. They walk in the shadows between light and dark, dabbling in forces divine and malignant, for their own inscrutable ends. Members include a fair number of witches and warlocks but also include pragmatic druids, unhinged shamans, and sorcerers of dubious pedigree.

Duskwardens

"We are all that stands between you and the slavering jaws and grasping claws of the ever-hungry night."
- Jakob Knochengard, Duskwarden Captain

This band of slayers attracts all manner of folk to their ranks: noble knights and paladins, vengeful lovers, adventure-hungry sell-swords, professional monster hunters, pious exorcists, and religious fanatics. All share one thing in common - they have lost someone dear to a creature of the night. They travel the length and breadth of civilization protecting villages, homes, and caravans from sunrise to sundown. These grim-faced pilgrims are pledged to run Evil to ground and eradicate it with fire and steel.

Knights of the Maggotcrown

"Come to me, caress me as you would a lover, and let my kiss send you to the never-ending darkness…"
- D'Vandra Lukeisa, Seneschal of the Maggotcrown

Life is fleeting, death is eternal. The realm of living flesh is at best a diversion, at worst an abomination, unnatural, and superficial. The Knights of the Maggotcrown counts many varieties of spook and fiend among their numbers - revenants, wraiths, vampires, liches. However, not all members of this faction are undead. Those who still live include morbid necromancers, ruthless mail-clad barbarians, cunning assassin cultists, and dirge-crooning skalds.

River Widows

"Take what you can, when you can, while you can."
- Mina Splinterheart, Captain of the River Widows

The River Widows are the lurking shadows in the Dreadmere gloom, the slim razor-edged stiletto in the night. They emerged from the gloomy fog just a few years ago, striking without mercy or hesitation. Now, this band of almost all-female pirates vies for control of not only Dreadmere, but all of the Dark Moors as well.

Disciples of Cthon

"Suffering. Pain. Hunger. Death. These are the things of which my Masters know nothing, nor do they comprehend."
- The Red Herald

In the gulf between the stars and space, beyond human comprehension, terrible, slithering things writhe and twist. There are some who seek the secrets of these monstrous beings. Nothing good can be said of this cult whose members are malevolent, corrupting, and alien. These servants of darkness summon and wallow in otherworldly energies, consorting with beings beyond time and space. In time their flesh melts, and their minds shatter leaving naught but hostile, monstrous flesh.

Disciples of Cthon lost their battle at ReaperCon 2016 and are not an option at ReaperCon 2017, but they will be back!
